ASTARTE 2nd Annual Meeting - Bodrum, Turkey
(comments: 0)
October 15-17
The meeting included a scientific workshop, where many of the project's researchers presented and discussed the work developed so far. Our external partners, Vasily Titov and Patrick Lynett, as well as the external advisors Hitomi Murakami and Christa Von Hildebrandt-Andrade, also made presentations.
Gulluk Bay end-users took part in this meeting as well. The Deputy Governor of Muğla, Mr. Rıza Dalan, spoke for the stakeholders and emphasised the importance of ASTARTE to minimize the loss of lives and the impact on the economy. "As the Governorate of Muğla, we are ready to cooperate and do everything in our capacity. Personally, I am looking forward to seeing the risks of a possible tsunami reduced as a result of this project. We are happier when we go to the beach, not when the beach comes to us."
On October 18, METU organized a field trip by boat to Gulluk bay, one of ASTARTE test-sites, showing all partners the aquaculture structures particularly vulnerable to tsunami impact.
